Weekly Sat Clean Up - 17th June '23

Updated: Jul 27, 2023

A hardy crew of volunteers turned up on Sat morning to tidy the village in advance of the Castleknock Festival taking place on Sun the 18th. It was LASHING rain, after weeks and weeks of drought. But there was no complaining and the team just got on with it. They cleaned weeds from the pavements, weeded the roses and picked up any litter they found in the immediate village area. Our three new 3-tier planters had arrived during the week so some volunteers set about planting them up with compost and plants. It was muddy work but someone had to do it! Finally, the sun broke through and the new planters were looking great. These Fingal County Council grant-funded planters and are a lovely addition to the retail side of the village. Local businesses will water the three towers during the summer months. This week also, following a representation from CTT, the FCC Operations team freshened the plants in the three existing 3-tier planters outside St Brigid's Church. So thanks FCC and well done to all the volunteers who helped out.

We hope to see everyone at the Castleknock TidyTowns stand tomorrow where we'll be having a plant swap event and launching our GLORIOUS GARDEN COMPETITION 2023.
