TY Students from St Vincent’s Castleknock College Complete Community Care Week with CTT
Three TY students from St Vincent’s Castleknock College successfully completed their Community Care Placement week with Castleknock Tidy Towns. The students worked diligently from 9.00am to 3.30pm over four days, contributing enthusiastically to a wide range of CTT activities, including: • Hedgerow planting with native Irish trees and primroses • Tree planting • Washing and maintaining the polytunnel • Waterproofing new outdoor benches • Bulb planting • Hedge clipping • Sorti

Fingal Volunteers Appreciation Evening/Fingal Managing Awards 2025

Lighting up of the Castleknock Christmas tree!
There was a huge turnout and lots of festive cheer at the annual lighting-up ceremony of the Castleknock Christmas tree. Seven year-old Elian Pérez - our youngest Volunteer - had the special honour of lighting the Christmas Tree this year. The event began inside St Brigid’s Church with a short performance by the award-winning St Brigids NS choir. Innovative smart parking system launched in Castleknock to reduce bicycle clutter
Fingal County Council is the first Local Authority in Europe, outside of Norway, to install smart technology at shared bike parking zones and we are pleased Castleknock has been chosen to trial the project. The main aim of the technology is to eliminate the problem of mis-parked and badly parked hired bikes which are a hazard and unsightly. TY Friday, 7th November
Transition Year students from Edmund Rice College joined CTT volunteers for a leaf collection along Auburn Avenue. The gathered leaves were added to CTT’s leaf mould cages for composting. A big thank you to all the students for their great teamwork and enthusiasm!


Village name stone restored and reinstalled
The cleaned up, recycled, reused and repositioned name stone has been installed in the rose bed in the centre of the village. Thanks FCC Operations Department and Darren from Liffey Memorials.

Castleknock Tidy Towns would like to thank Little Village magazine for featuring Castleknock Tidy Towns’ initiative to make Castleknock more accessible and age-friendly through the installation of a new bench and pollinator bed at the pedestrian entrance to Peck’s Lane. This spot is now a welcoming haven to rest, chat, and enjoy the beauty and life of the pollinator-friendly flowers.

Thanks to Election Teams for Supporting Poster-Free Zone
Castleknock TidyTowns wish to once again thank each and all of the local campaign teams for the Presidential Election for respecting the Castleknock Poster-Free Zone. The initiative was, once again, an outstanding success and received phenomenal support from all concerned and this is very much appreciated by the community of Castleknock.

Tidy Town Competition 2025 results
We are delighted to announce: the Tidy Town Competition 2025 results are out. Thank you to all Volunteers, Businesses, Residents and Fingal County Council for all the work. A great achievement to everyone who played their part, no matter how big or how small. It all counts to making our community of Castleknock a great place to live, work, play and for all to enjoy. We received 313 marks, a nearly 6% increase on last year’ 296. We increased our marks in each of the 8 categori

The Guinnes house
This Guinness house in the centre of the village had been vacant for over thirty years and was deteriorating rapidly and at great risk of vandalism. The vacant premises behind it had been burned down maliciously. Castleknock TidyTowns played a significant part in preserving and restoring this historic building by contacting the owner encouraging him to take positive actions which resulted in the property being put on the market.
