Castleknock Tidy Towns together with students and teachers are delighted with their new Swift Nesting Boxes at 4 local schools, namely St Brigid's National School, Castleknock National School, Castleknock Educate Together School and Castleknock College. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the migrant birds soon from South Africa!
These four local schools were chosen by CTT on the advice of Helen Burke of the Dublin Swift Conservation Group. The nesting boxes are fitted with swift audio calls which will be played daily from now until the end of August. These attraction calls are designed to help the swifts find and use the nesting boxes. This project was funded by Fingal Environmental Awareness Department.
