This Summer Solstice, a powerful moment of light, gratitude, and connection — to the Earth, the sun, the seasons, and to each other, we made the most of the day with 25 volunteers out watering, tidying flower beds, brushing, edging, weeding the paths along Auburn Avenue.
We are delighted with our increased wilding, allowing some extra grass growth along Auburn Avenue. The grass growth provides pockets of nature and are valuable mini-habitats for insects and biodiversity. We are beginning to see more wildflowers emerging and new insects have been spotted in Castleknock!
Thanks to FCC Operations Department for their support in encouraging some extra grass growth in line with the All-Ireland Pollinator plan. It’s a light-touch approach, letting nature take the lead.
A big thanks to all our wonderful volunteers for a super morning’s work, keeping Castleknock looking great.
