Sat Clean Up - 25th June '22

Over 20 volunteers worked at various locations along Auburn Avenue and around the village this week. The 'Church Green' received special attention on Saturday with the bases of the sapling trees being cleared of weeds, the orchard apple trees were watered, some new plants were added, noxious weeds were removed from some areas of wild grass and litter was collected. The grass verge was also mown at the end of Auburn Avenue to define the longer areas which are being actively 'managed for wildlife'. Some volunteers were also out on Wednesday evening and cleared suckers from the trees along Castleknock Road as far as the Park Drive roundabout.

At 12 noon on Saturday, a sizeable crowd showed up to demonstrate their strong opposition against the recent granting of a license for a 15-meter telecommunications mast on Auburn Avenue, right next to the Open Orchard planted earlier this year.
