Sat Clean Up 23rd July - quite the party!

Despite the rain, 20+ volunteers worked on Castleknock Road at the entrance to Park Avenue and Beechpark Avenue. Weeding, deadheading and verging were the order of the day. The Open Orchard got most of the attention. Leaf mold from one of the CTT leaf bays was spread at the bases of the nine apple trees to preserve moisture and provide nutrition for the growing apples. The bed in front of Wendover was tended. Well done for coming out folks!

Volunteers must have had a hungry look as one lovely local resident brought out a box of chocolates for sharing. Then BASE pizza across the street donated six delicious pizzas at the end of the shift. So, when added to delicious brownies (thx John) and bakewell tarts (thx Judie) already stashed back at our 'refreshment gathering' haunt of Myo's, it was quite the party. Thanks to BASE pizza for the unexpectedly thoughtful and generous gesture!

Thanks too to Fingal County Council who responded to our request and have power-washed the name stones at Park Avenue and other locations around the village. Much appreciated!
