Fingal County Council recently granted funding to Castleknock Tidy Towns to produce a virtual heritage tour of Castleknock. Castleknock Castle, which appears on our logo, will definitely feature as will the buildings within the Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) in the village.
An Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) is a place, area, group of structures or townscape that is of special architectural, historical, archaeological, technical, social, cultural, or scientific, interest or that contributes to the appreciation of a Protected Structure.
Timely too as separately Castleknock Castle (which is located on the grounds of Castleknock College) was granted €70,000 in funding as part of the Community Monuments Fund.
This funding is designed to help conserve, maintain, protect and promote local monuments and historic sites and is part of a fund of grants worth over €4 million.
