60 New Trees for Phoenix Park

We are delighted to report the OPW recently planted 60 trees along stretches of both sides of Chesterfield Avenue in the Phoenix Park. These new trees are to replace fallen trees and older trees that are near their end of life. Well done OPW.

It is often reported that the Phoenix Park is a vital green lung for Dublin and the role trees play is significant. Trees mitigate the effects of pollution and climate change, attract birds and wildlife whilst also, of course, enhancing the appearance of the park.

There is much available space in the park to plant many more forests of trees so it would be great to see this happen for the benefit of generations to come. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time to plant a tree is now.

Last year Castleknock TidyTowns successfully lobbied for the removal of dozens of tree stumps in our neighbourhood and was directly responsible for the planting of over 1,000 new trees and we have ambitious tree planting plans again for this year.

If you want a tree planted outside your house or on a local public green space, please contact Fingal County Council, Operations Department on phone number 8905331 or email casmuloparea@fingal.ie
