To coincide with National Tree Week, on Saturday 9th March '24, a team of almost 20 CTT volunteers planted 400 trees in Castleknock. Planting took place in two green areas, namely in Park View Green (overlooking the Phoenix Park) and in Deerpark Green. The 400 trees consisted of established apple trees as well as Silver Birch, Rowan, Alder and Blackthorn whips. Open Orchards were created with apple trees to the fore with a mix of tree whips behind to create micro forests. It's nice to think that areas which were farmland (with orchards) in the past, now have apple trees growing once more. Many thanks to everyone who took part.
And on Sat 16th March at 10am - we'll be out planting 100 more trees so that 500 trees in all will have been planted by CTT during this Spring planting season.
