3 Leaf Bays added to village

In 2019 a Castleknock Tidy Towns committee member (Alicia) attended a Fingal Co. Co. funded 'master composter' course. She returned to Castleknock full of great ideas and secured materials to make 3 small leaf bays for the schools in Castleknock. By collecting fallen leaves and allowing them to rot down over time, lovely leaf mould is produced. This can be added to flower beds to nourish the plants and improve the soil. And it makes the best use of our leaves!

Given that Castleknock is so leafy, we decided that for 2020 the idea needed to be scaled up and recently 3 new, larger leaf bays have been added to the village. Each bay takes 5 tonne bags of leaves. These drop down over time.

Well done James for building them (from a roll of old chicken wire) - and installing them - one at Castleknock Gate, and one discreetly positioned at the Park Avenue/Castleknock Road corner and the third on Park Avenue green, under the trees!
