National Tree Week 2022

National Tree Week - Sunday 20th March to Saturday 26th March 2022

In an effort to combat climate change, Castleknock Tidy Towns has made tree planting our number one special priority project for 2022.

  • With Fingal County Council's guidance and support we have already planted over 450 native Irish trees (whips) on public lands in Castleknock this year.

  • With funding from Change X we planted an Open Orchard of 9 established trees on Castleknock Road, at the entrance to Park Avenue.

  • A second similar Open Orchard will be planted this coming week with TidyTowns funding which we received from the Dept of Community and Rural Development.

  • This week Castleknock TidyTowns will donate 600 native Irish tree whips to local households through our volunteer network and our connections with Castleknock schools. These trees will be planted in people's own gardens or grown on in pots on balconies for those living in apartments.
