Monthly Clean Up - Sat 4th Mar '23

We had a great turnout for the March Clean Up. The dry morning provided ideal conditions for those volunteers out doing their bit around the village. There was lots to be done, given that Spring had 'sprung' and with weeds well on their way too. Many of the pavements needed brushing and overhanging lengths of ivy and brambles needed to be trimmed back along Castleknock Road. Verges had begun to encroach again as well. There was plenty of weeding needed, especially at the bed at the Phoenix Park Gates.

The Castleknock Scout troop, along with their leaders have been enjoying the work CTT undertakes and have been joining the team once a month since last year. And the scouts did a fine job on Saturday clearing the bases of the whips (young trees) which were planted last year around the existing copse on the green within Park Avenue. And also a smaller number of whips at Church Green, off Auburn Avenue. Once the group completed that task (to ensure the whips thrive), the scouts did a 'sweep' to check for litter. The scouts explained they were well used to this task, given their ethos of 'leaving no trace' after their regular camping trips.

Well done and thank you to everyone who joined in. Thanks to Myo's who welcomed us back for refreshments and to Judie, who provided the home baking. From Sat Apr 1st, we will be back on our normal weekly schedule of Saturday Clean Ups once again - 10am meet up at Myo's Car Park. 2023 will be the fifth consecutive year of weekly Saturday morning Clean Ups (Apr to end Sept) by CTT volunteers around Castleknock. We welcome new volunteers! Just get in touch.
