On Sunday 19th June '22 a tree planting ceremony took place, in memory of those local people who passed away during the Covid-19 pandemic. The tree was planted at the Beechpark Lawn green area (sometimes referred to as the Church Green). See location on the little map.
A very special Holly tree (Ilex Crenata Buxifolia) was planted and a plaque was erected.
The tree was blessed by Fr. Damian McNeice, Parish Priest at Castleknock Parish and Rev. Colin McConaghie, Rector at St. Brigid's Church, Castleknock who both said a few words.
Castleknock Tidy Towns assisted in preparing the site and with the physical planting of the tree. Present at the ceremony were Cllr. Howard Mahony (newly appointed Mayor of Fingal), Minister Roderic O'Gorman T.D. and Cllr. Ted Leddy, Cllr. John Walsh and Cllr. Siobhan Shovlin of Fingal County Councillor along with many local residents.
Cllr. Ted Leddy, with the help of FCC Parks Dept, organised the ceremony and had it coincide with the Castleknock Summer Festival. CTT volunteers will water the tree and look after it going forward. It is planned that the flower bed around it will be enhanced by FCC in the coming weeks and hopefully a remembrance bench will be added
