Community-in-Action

In recent years, I’ve been working alongside Castleknock Tidy Towns to ensure Castleknock Village gets the attention and investment it deserves at Government level.

During the General Election, village rejuvenation was one of the biggest issues raised by local residents. Like everyone in the community, I’m delighted to see new businesses bringing fresh life to the Village - but long-term regeneration also requires strategic investment and meaningful Government support, which is still lacking.

Just over a year ago, as a newly elected TD, I secured access for Castleknock to the Town Centre First Initiative despite the Village being outside the national eligibility criteria. Castleknock Tidy Towns is leading that work, with a focus on:

  • improving the public realm
  • making the Village more attractive and accessible
  • enhancing walking and cycling infrastructure
  • addressing ongoing traffic challenges

But the work can’t stop there. I’m continuing to push for access to Government supports, like the Town & Village Renewal Scheme, to help fund specific regeneration projects for the area.

Real change takes persistence, collaboration, and a lot of work behind the scenes, but when a community comes together, progress happens. This is community in action and the work continues.
