The festival began in high spirits as over 1,700 runners filled the village following the Castleknock 5km run. Congratulations to the winners:
Men’s category – Nickolas Colyn with an incredible time of 14:45 mins
Women’s category – Áine Cotter finishing strong at 17:07 mins
Castleknock Tidy Towns’ stand was a hive of activity and connection. We had lots of people popping by to say hello so we were kept busy. We had visits from local councillors, T.D.s and two Ministers.
There was great engagement and interest at the CTT stand:
Over 100 quality items given away for free as part of our Castleknock CommunityCycle — from clothes and leather jackets to books, candles, toys, and more.
Lively interest in our Save Soil Quiz and hands-on composting tips.
A sprouting jar demo showing just how easy it is to grow nutritious sprouts packed with vitamins.
We had flowers for children to colour, star stickers and sweets
Several new volunteers signed up to get involved!
And many thanks for the donations made on the day
It was a hugely successful day —Well done to the organisation and all the event stands. It was great to be part of this annual event and to meet many community groups and local businesses.
The village was buzzing with community energy and great music. It’s a great opportunity for even more businesses and community groups to get together and make Castleknock even better next year.
