Castleknock Summer Festival 2022
Updated: Jun 24
On Sunday 19th June '22 the first Castleknock Summer Festival took place in the village. The event kicked off at 11am with the annual 5k race from Castleknock College but this year the finish line was in the village. A section of the Castleknock Road was pedestrianised from 11am to 6pm. Pop Up tents lined the road and local businesses, community groups and various restaurants got involved. There was a children's games and activities area set up in the car park of the Castleknock Village Centre which was great fun. The sun shone, live music played and thousands of people showed up for the event so there was a great buzz.
Our stall was busy and was visited by Cllr. Howard Mahony (newly appointed Mayor of Fingal), Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, T.D., Ministers Roderic O'Gorman T.D. and Jack Chambers, T.D. as well as Cllr. John Walsh (CTT), Cllr. Siobhan Shovlin and Cllr. Pamela Conroy of Fingal County Councillor.
Well done to Cllr. Ted Leddy for having the original idea and for getting the event off the ground! Hopefully this will become an annual date in the Castleknock event's calendar. Good job to the festival organising committee and to everyone who made this lovely day possible.
Thanks to Brian, CTT who organised the rota of volunteers to look after the two CTT Pop Up tents needed for our Plant Swap/Giveaway. There were duties involved in the set up, manning the stall and in the take down - so sincerest thanks to those volunteers.
Special thanks again for the super generous donations of plants for our stall from volunteers and local residents. Thanks Margaret, CTT for securing such a collection of colourful donated plants from Supervalu Blanchardstown, John Regan and LIDL Castleknock. Thanks to Sinead Fox of FCC Environmental Dept for the biodiversity leaflets and supporting products. Thanks to everyone who visited our stall and to those who made a donation to our funds. ALL sponsorship and support was so gratefully received.
